Bridesmaid – Being Green and Economical
In today’s economy as well as the
world we live in, it is important for most of us to save money wherever
we can as well as thinking about the environment. During the planning
of the wedding, it can be very helpful for both your budget and the
bridesmaids to think about different things you can do to save money and
the earth while still having an amazing wedding. Below we have listed
some great “green” ideas to help in the planning for you and your
bridesmaids:
Re-usable
Bridesmaid Dresses – When you are picking out a
bridesmaid
dress, it is helpful for you to think about your friends as well as
the style you want. Dresses can be very expensive as well as
non-functional for more than a one-time use. It is helpful to think of
your bridesmaids and purchase a style and color that can be worn even
after the wedding. In addition, another great idea is to have a certain
color and look, allowing your bridesmaids to choose on a few different
complimentary styles so they enjoy wearing the bridesmaid dress once
again (especially if some of the bridesmaids are plus sizes or size 0).
Local
Rehearsal and Bachelorette Party - Pre-wedding parties can be
very expensive for everyone who attends. It is a great idea to have a
local bachelorette party
or a joint bachelorette and
bachelor party so couples can save money or your single friends
don’t have to travel too far.
Re-usable
Supplies – There are many pre-wedding
party supplies as well as wedding supplies that can be reused or
given away after the party events. It is great to donate flowers after
the wedding as well as any nice centerpieces. Extra food can be given
to a shelter and much of the products can be recycled. Ask bridesmaids
and groomsmen
to be aware of recycling so everyone can pitch in. A great place for a
bachelorette party or bridesmaid gift is to make a t-shirt for your

Inexpensive Gifts – There are many types of bachelorette
party gifts and
wedding gifts to choose from. Make sure to place different types of
bridal/wedding gifts in your registry so those who do not have much
money can purchase economical and less expensive gifts on your
registry. Make sure you have enough selection so people aren’t burdened
in paying off their credit card to attend your wedding and pre-wedding
parties. Some state to not bring gifts or to donate to a great
charity. We recommend battered women shelters or the military funds to
support our troops overseas! The American Red Cross is a great place to
donate.
Make
Decorations Party – A great idea is to have all the
bridesmaids over and have a party to create decorations. This is great
for a shoe-string budget as well as having everyone get together to help
out. You can rent a movie, play great tunes or have dinner and drinks
all together which makes the pre-wedding more memorable and economical.
